Abstract
A través de la intersección entre religiosidad e identidad, revisando cuatroscientos años de la historia de Guatemala, el historiador Douglass Sullivan-González logra, a través de esta obra, enfatizar el papel de la imagen del Cristo Negro de Esquipulas, cargada de gran contenido simbólico que traspasa las fronteras guatemaltecas, en las luchas sociales y políticas.
