Abstract
A semejanza de lo escrito por Gaspar de Villagra sobre los conquistadores de Nuevo México —“Al fin prendas los más de aquestos héroes/ de luanes de Tolosa cuyos brazos, fundaron con esfuerzo y levantaron/ la famosa Ciudad de Zacatecas"—, las minas de Zacatecas cumplieron un papel de primera importancia en la continuidad de las exploraciones, apertura de rutas, creación de asentamientos y desarrollo de las nuevas poblaciones que se incrustaron desde el mismo siglo XVI en el territorio septentrional de la Nueva Galicia.
